Who this template is for
The modern template is the middle ground for most applications: polished enough to show you made an effort, measured enough to upset no one. Marketing, sales, human resources, communications — roles where presentation counts a little, but where graphic daring is not a criterion. It is also the right pick when a photo is expected and you want it built into the layout rather than dropped in a corner.
How the layout is built
The header splits in two: on the left the round photo, your name and the target job title; on the right a stacked contact block, one item per line. Below it, the body returns to a single column. Each section heading is preceded by a small midnight-blue accent bar that acts as a visual marker as you read down. Experience entries align the role on the left and the dates on the right, the company and location as a subtitle, then the achievements as bullets. The type is Raleway, from the name to the last word of the bullets.
With or without a photo
The photo is part of the template: it is on by default and the header is sized for it. If you remove it, the name and title naturally take back the freed width, with no hole in the layout. Handy when the same application goes out with a photo at home and without one abroad.
ATS readability
The two columns exist only in the header, never in the body: the reading order is linear from the summary onward, and that is where the substance an ATS indexes lives. The accent bars are decorative elements with no text, the photo is an image with no information, and the section headings remain the ones parsers expect.
PDF and Word export
In PDF, the photo is embedded in the file and the midnight-blue accent prints correctly in black and white, without turning into muddy grey. In DOCX, the two-column header is rebuilt: the photo and the contact block are both there, but their alignment can shift by a few millimetres depending on the version of Word.
